● The most frequently cited problem was the language barrier, which complicates communication at government offices, in school, and in daily life. This issue was mentioned by as many as 65% of respondents.
● For 50% of students, the high cost of living, housing, and studies represents a significant challenge. Many of them must work alongside their studies to cover their expenses.

● More than 20% of students stated that they feel lonely and have difficulty participating in activities or making new friends.

These problems highlight the need for targeted support in the areas of language education, adaptation, social involvement, and financial assistance, so that Ukrainian students can successfully study and integrate into the Slovak environment.
The survey also revealed several positive aspects of the lives of Ukrainian students in Slovakia, highlighting their determination and adaptability:
● As many as 60% of respondents expressed satisfaction with their studies in Slovakia. They appreciated the high quality of education and support from teachers.
● Students value the safe and stable environment in Slovakia, which allows them to focus on their studies and personal development.

These positive results show that Ukrainian students are gradually building a stable background in Slovakia and utilizing the opportunities for education and self-realization that the country offers. This creates a solid foundation for their future development and contribution to Slovak society.
What challenges did we face?
Recruiting respondents for the survey was one of the biggest challenges we encountered. Although we reached out to Ukrainian students through community forums, social networks, and online platforms, it turned out that their initial interest in participating was limited.
To increase awareness of the survey, we printed posters that we placed in strategic locations:
● Dormitories where students live.
● Restaurants they frequently visit.
The key to overcoming these challenges was flexibility and a creative approach. By combining online and offline methods, we were able to increase the reach of the survey. The involvement of volunteers from the association was crucial. They helped with poster distribution, actively communicated with students, and answered their questions regarding the survey.
Another important step was providing clear information about the purpose of the survey and its significance. Personal contact and support for respondents proved effective in increasing their willingness to participate.
How did we engage them?
Students reacted positively to the personalized approach. The posters contained not only practical information but also attractive graphics and QR codes, allowing them to fill out the questionnaire quickly and easily. On social networks, we published posts with interesting facts about the survey and its goals, sparking interest in participation.
An important factor was also transparency – students knew that the survey results would be used for specific steps that could directly help them.
Why is it important to get involved?
Student involvement in the survey is crucial because:
● By participating, students help create a comprehensive view of their situation, needs, and challenges.
● Survey data allow our projects to be more effective and adapt to the real needs of students.
● Every voice contributes to strengthening the community and creating an environment where students feel heard and supported.
This survey was not just about data collection, but also about building trust and creating a space where students' needs can truly be addressed. We thank everyone who participated and look forward to the next steps we will take together to improve the conditions for Ukrainian students in Slovakia.
