Generation WE is a civil association founded in Eastern Slovakia focusing on the psychological, social, and economic empowerment of youth in the Carpathian region. The association was established thanks to the Generation 2020 project on November 24, 2016, with a foundation of 11 young people originally from all over Eastern Slovakia. The project itself, which later led to the creation of the GenWE (Generation WE) organization, began in 2015.

The project began with activities such as an opening conference and an informal meeting entitled "Think Globally, Act Cross-borderly." Following the participation of several people in these meetings, the project continued with creative days in Košice and Uzhhorod, a Case Study in Granárium, and Residential Slovak–Ukrainian internships designed for artists. At the final conference, the findings achieved during the aforementioned activities that took place between 2015 and 2017 were presented and summarized. The activities of the Generation 2020 project continued even after the establishment of GenWE; these were the activities that shaped the leaders of GenWE. We held several meetings and had the opportunity to travel for training to Ukraine multiple times. We also had the chance to participate in a trip to Norway, where we met with representatives of the youth organization BASEN (on whose basis we were established as the civil association GenWE, which cooperates and participates in projects with Ukraine). We successfully completed our first project, "Living Books," which received very positive feedback from high school students. We also prepared and implemented the "Adaptation Week with GenWE" project for incoming Ukrainian students at universities in Prešov and Košice.

By developing initiatives to remove as many barriers as possible that young people in these disadvantaged regions face daily, GenWE strives not only for the gradual reduction of regional disparities and increased competitiveness of youth in the national and European labor markets but also for the creation and support of an individual sense of fulfillment, utility, and the strengthening of the values of democracy, tolerance, and respect for human rights.
